Travel & Transportation
There are 2 ways you can get to Steamboat Springs:
Fly into Yampa Valley Airport (~30 mins from Steamboat)
Fly into Denver & drive (~3.5 hrs from Steamboat)
Option 1 is the most direct option and will likely save you significant time (and stress) in the long run as it is a short drive from Hayden to downtown Steamboat. Option 2 is slightly more cost effective and the drive is both scenic and relaxing (since you mostly avoid I-70!). However, you will need to bake in enough travel time on both ends for this to be a feasible option. We recommend choosing the option that works best for you based on cost, timing, etc.
Travel Options
Fly into Denver
We recommend landing at DIA no later than 1PM on Friday to make it Steamboat in time for the Welcome Party. There are both shuttle & rental car options at DIA.
Fly into Yampa Valley Airport
Yampa Valley Airport (HDN) has both United & Southwest flights year-round. We strongly recommend booking a car or shuttle service prior to arrival as Uber & Lyfts are not readily available by the airport.
See here for information on airport transportation and here for typical summer flight schedules.
Transportation
Once you arrive in Steamboat, there are several options for getting around town.
Steamboat’s Transit System
Steamboat offers a free bus shuttle system year-round that is both convenient & reliable. For those staying on the mountain side, you can access the bus from the Gondola Transit Center which is adjacent to Gondola Square.
Hotel Shuttles
For those staying at the Grand, you will have access to an on-call shuttle that can take you to/from mountain side, downtown, grocery stores, etc. At this time we are unaware of any additional hotels that offer an on-call shuttle (although many are on the free bus line!)
Rental Car
Yampa Valley Airport offers a number of rental car services, as does DIA. For those staying in a house or condo we recommend renting a car unless you are staying close to a bus stop.
